James Muller

One of Australia's most acclaimed jazz musicians, Sydney guitarist and composer, James Muller has performed with Vince Jones, James Morrison, and the internationally acclaimed Chad Wackerman group. James has recorded three albums for the ABC, and has performed on a multitude of local releases since moving to Sydney from Adelaide in 1996.

His CD, ?All Out? won the ARIA for Best Jazz Album in 2000, and ?Thrum? won the APRA Award for most performed jazz work. James Muller was co-winner of the National Jazz Awards in 2000 and in 2001 won MO awards for best jazz instrumentalist and best jazz group.

With his Freedman Fellowship, James has recorded two new CDs featuring both his current Australian trio (James Muller - Guitar, Brett Hirst - bass, Felix Bloxsom - drums) and a New York based rhythm section (drummer Adam Nussbaum and bassist Matt Penman). This involved initially recording several of his original compositions in Sydney, then travelling to New York to record further original work. Both recordings were then mastered and produced in Sydney.
