Conference of the Music in Communities Network

The Music in Communities Network will host a conference on community music development on the day prior to the Assembly, Saturday September 10, all day.

The Music in Communities Network was launched in 2009. Its brief is to support those working throughout Australia to build music making and presentation at the community level. It organises the annual Music in Communities Awards. It is building a support structure for community music throughout the country, forming local music councils and building debate and skills among community music workers. Its conferences bring together great people who often did not know of each other previously and are truly inspirational.

Program

Leading into the MCA’s Annual Assembly, the Music in Communities Network is bringing together all of our Canberra friends and members in a networking opportunity with national significance. Hear from an illustrious group of MiCN mentors on how to build and grow a successful community music group. There will be ample opportunity for you to discuss your own group’s particular challenges and we ask you to bring along your brightest ideas and innovative practices to share. Recommendations could feed into the national agenda of the MCA!

The quality of the speakers was excellent... The opportunity to meet and make links with others was brilliant. – Libby Druce, Project Officer, Youth, Mind Australia, McLaren Vale participant, June 2011.
