This paper describes the regulation of the media – radio, television and online - in Australia and in other countries, especially with regard to its function in ensuring a sufficient place for Australian music.

The paper was prepared by Lynn Gailey, Music Council of Australia policy and research officer, in preparation for an expert industry symposium in April 2012, to devise strategies to ensure a strong place for Australian music in the new media landscape then evolving.
