NSW Health

On 26 April 2012, the Hon Jillian Skinner MP, Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research together with Hon Victor Dominello MP, Minister for Citizenship and Communities and NSW Minister for Aboriginal Affairs launched the NSW Health Policy and Implementation Plan for Healthy Culturally Diverse Communities, 2012- 2016.

The Plan highlights and builds on the key achievements of the NSW Ministry of Health including strategic directions to improve the health status of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) groups including women, emerging communities, refugees and people living with a disability.

DMDS is a secure software system which enables labels and artists to send high quality audio files to music directors and decision-makers within the media. AIR will run the program on behalf of its members and the wider independent community.

AIR has successfully used a similar service over the last 3 years to deliver hundreds of independent tracks to music directors at radio networks (commercial, ABC and community), television, print media and background music providers. While the success of our previous provider exceeded expectations, we're excited to now partner with D-Star in order to provide  significant savings and better results for the independent sector.

D-Star's DMDS is fast becoming one of the industry preferred standards of music delivery in Australia and the partnership will allow AIR to introduce other D-Star services including radio monitoring with SPINS and D-Star Digital music video clip delivery members in the future.

The High Court dismissed an appeal by a number of film and television companies from a decision of the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia. The High Court held that the respondent, an internet service provider, had not authorised the infringement by its customers of the appellants' copyright in commercially released films and television programs. National Dance Education Organisation

The Standards for Learning and Teaching Dance in the Arts: Ages 5-18 serve as a guide for dance teachers, artists, administrators, and students for the benchmark years of 4th grade (9-10 years), 8th grade (13-14 years), and 12th grade (17-18 years). The BISG delivered its final report to Senator the Hon Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research in September 2011. The report  was publicly released on 9 November 2011 following a launch held at Parliament House in Canberra. The BISG's report contains a series of recommendations to Government along with a proposed suite of actions for industry. Over coming months, Government will consider the BISG's recommendations in the context of whole-of-Government priorities and provide a preliminary response in early 2012.   For full report, click here.

Congress has directed the U.S. Copyright Office to conduct a study on the desirability and means of bringing sound recordings fixed before February 15, 1972, under federal jurisdiction. The study is to cover the effect of federal coverage on the preservation of such sound recordings, the effect on public access to those recordings, and the economic impact of federal coverage on rights holders. The study is also to examine the means for accomplishing such coverage.
