Europa Cantat

The European Federation of Young Choirs. An international choral association for Europe. Among other things, it organises a Parliament of Young Musicians which attempts to influence music policies in member countries.


European Broadcasting Union

Working on behalf of its Members in the European area, the EBU negotiates broadcasting rights for major sports events, operates the Eurovision and Euroradio networks, organizes programme exchanges, stimulates and coordinates co-productions, and provides a full range of other operational, commercial, technical, legal and strategic services.


European Conference of Promoters of New Music (ECPNM)

Future of Music Coalition

The Future of Music Coalition collaborates between members of the music, technology, public policy and intellectual property law communities.  They produce articles, a free newsletter and regular conferences.


Gaudeamus Foundation

Promotes contemporary art music through the organisation of festivals, competitions, workshops, concerts, international exchanges. It has a huge documentation center. Institute for Music Theatre Research (IRTEM)

IRTEM is a non-profit, publicly financed institute which aims at creating a research centre in the fields of musical theatre, 20th-century music and ethnomusicology. For this purpose the Institute has created two archives: a sound archive which covers the areas of 20th-century music and ethnomusicology, and a video archive constituted by musical theatre documents.


International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC)

A worldwide network of organisations promoting new music. Most are nationally based, have libraries and resource centres of works by their respective countries’ composers. Member of the International Music Council.


International Association of Music Libraries (IAML)

IAML is a member of the International Music Council. The music libaries in Australia are organised as IAML (Australia).

International Confederation of Music Societies (CISM)

International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC)

CISAC works towards increased recognition and protection of creators' rights.  They represent creators from music, drama, literature, audio-visual works, graphic and visual arts.


International Council of Organizations and Festivals of Folklore and Traditional Arts (CIOFF)

The purpose of CIOFF is safeguarding, promotion and diffusion of traditional culture and folklore.  CIOFF is linked with UNESCO.


International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM)

National Arts and Disability Centre

The US national information dissemination, technical assistance and referral center specializing in the field of arts and disability. The NADC is dedicated to promoting the full inclusion of children and adults with disabilities into the visual-, performing-, media, and literary-arts communities. The site includes resource directories, annotated bibliographies, related links and conferences. The NADC is a project of the University of California, at Los Angeles (UCLA).


National Association for Music Education (MENC)

MENC is a US association whose aim is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all.

Observatory of Cultural Policies in Africa

OCPA is an independent pan-African non-governmental organisation aiming to enhance the development of national cultural policies in Africa and their integration in human development strategies at the regional and international level.


Philippines National Commission for Culture and the Arts

This website contains information from the 22 National Committees working together to develop, promote and preserve the Filipino cultural heritage. One of these is the Committee on Music. Polifonia - Erasmus Thematic Network For Music

Polifonia is a network studying issues related to professional music training at the European level. Issues Polifonia investigates include accreditation, teacher training, professional development, music research, pre-college music trainging, et al.


Sound Sense

Sound Sense is the British organisation which supports community music development. The site includes statements of philosophy, practical information, a directory of resources and a diary of events.


UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation

The cultural section takes many initiatives on behalf of arts and culture world wide. It generates some useful documents looking at such things as the status of the artist or the effects of globalisation on culture.
