MCA Bulletin - Competitions, Scholarships Notice
Title: EDISON DENISOV INTERNATIONAL YOUNG COMPOSERS COMPETITIONOrganisation: Administration of Tomsk Region and the Culture Dep Country: RUSSIA Details: 2. All presented works should be based on the EDES theme (E, D, E-flat).
3. All presented works should be composed for quintet flute, clarinet, piano, violin and cello. Using flauto piccolo, flauto alto and clarinetto basso B is permitted.
4. The duration of presented works should be between 10 to 5 minutes.
5. Each composer can present just one work for the competition.
6. The score must be written clearly and legibly, either by hand in ink, or computer.
7. The competition admits only work, which has not been performed in public concerts, has not been published and has not awarded prizes at other competitions.
8. Two copies of the score should be sent to the address: Moscow Composers’ Union (for EDES International Competition), Briusov per., 8 / 10, building 2, 103009 Moscow, Russia. The deadline is September15th , 2007.
9. The composer’s name must not appear on the cover of score. It must be changed into a motto. The score must be accompanied with a sealed envelope signed with the same motto. The envelope has to contain the following data: the composer’s name, date and place of birth, full post address, number of his phone and fax numbers, e-mail address (if there is any) and composer’s brief biography.
10. The jury of the competition is:
Victor Ekimovsky (chairman), composer, secretary of the Union of Composers of the Russian Federation, the President of the Association for Contemporary Music (Russia)
Oleg Galakhov, composer, chairman of the Moscow Composers’ Union (Russia)
Yuri Kasparov, composer, artistic director of the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (Russia)
Krzysztof Meier, composer (Germany)
Hervé Désarbre, organist, director of Les Editions du Chant du Monde (France)
Faradge Karaev, composer (Russia/Azerbaijan).
11. The results of the competition will be announced not later, than on November25th, 2007.
12. the First Prize is 2500 Euros (payment of Les Editions du Chant du Monde),
the Second Prize is 1500 Euros (payment of the Culture Department of Tomsk Region). The competition judges have the rights to establish only one prize. Besides, the judges establish three diplomas. The scores of the winners will be published by Les Editions du Chant du Monde in 2008. Composers who are awarded the First and the Second prizes should pass the rights of their works to Les Editions du Chant du Monde.
13. The works awarded by prizes and by diplomas will be performed on the December8th and 9th, 2007 in Tomsk.
Eligibility: The competition is open to composers of any nationality, who were born not earlier than on November 1st, 1967.
